  • FROM LOS ANGELES INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT: Take the San Diego Freeway (405) south to the Long Beach Freeway (710). Go south on the Long Beach Freeway to the Downtown Exits. (710 then becomes Shoreline Drive). Follow Shoreline Drive to Linden Avenue and into the parking lot, or as advised by directional signage.

  • FROM LONG BEACH AIRPORT: Take Lakewood Boulevard south to the San Diego Freeway (405). Take the San Diego Freeway (405) north to the Long Beach Freeway (710). Go south on the Long Beach Freeway to the Downtown Exits. (710 then becomes Shoreline Drive). Follow Shoreline Drive to Linden Avenue and into the parking lot, or as advised by directional signage.

  • FROM THE JOHN WAYNE (ORANGE COUNTY) AIRPORT: Take the San Diego Freeway (405) north to the Long Beach Freeway (710). Go south on the Long Beach Freeway to the Downtown Exits. (710 then becomes Shoreline Drive). Follow Shoreline Drive to Linden Avenue and into the parking lot or as advised by directional signage.

  • FROM SOUTHERN ORANGE COUNTY: Take the Santa Ana Freeway (5) north to the San Diego Freeway (405). Take the San Diego Freeway (405) north to the Long Beach Freeway (710). Go south on the Long Beach Freeway to the Downtown Exits. (710 then becomes Shoreline Drive). Follow Shoreline Drive to Linden Avenue and into the parking lot or as advised by directional signage.

  • FROM NORTH ORANGE COUNTY AND THE VALLEYS: San Gabriel & Pomona Valleys take the Orange Freeway (57) or San Gabriel Freeway (605) to the Riverside Freeway (91) to the Long Beach Freeway (710). Go south on the Long Beach Freeway to the Downtown Exits. (710 then becomes Shoreline Drive). Follow Shoreline Drive to Linden Avenue and into the parking lot or as advised by directional signage.

SAMPE Long Beach 2016
SAMPE Long Beach is the only conference and exhibition exclusively dedicated to advanced materials and processes. Over 250 exhibiting companies showcase their products and solutions during this event. Furthermore, the full scale technical conference features the latest technologies and research advancements concerning the advanced materials and processes community. Long Beach is where the Advanced Materials community meets — the only place where you come face-to-face with the industry’s most influential decision makers. Attendees come from all 50 United States.

International Attendees
SAMPE will provide a letter of invitation to registered attendees and exhibitors. It is recommended that you have this letter for your visa application and interview. Letters of recommendation should be requested as early as possible. For an invitation, submit a written request toPriscilla@sampe.org. Be sure to note whether the letter should be addressed to the requestor or to the embassy/consulate.

Conference Program
Sessions are the only programs in which a full-length technical paper will be published on our proceedings. Conference
registration is required for admittance to sessions and panels. Tutorial registration is required for admission into tutorials.


ITAR - Sessions listed in the program followed by and “(ITAR”) note, are sessions that include ITAR restricted papers. These sessions are not necessarily fully closed sessions. Get complete details about ITAR at SAMPE Long Beach here


Ground Transportation Attendees are advised to fly into the following airports to attend SAMPE Long Beach: Los Angeles International Airport, Long Beach Airport or the John Wayne (Orange County Airport). Taxis can be picked-up at the airport, hotels, and the Taxi Drop off/Pick up area located outside of the Long Beach Convention Center. 

The Long Beach Convention & Entertainment Center has more than 4,000 parking spaces around the Center in three parking garages and one ground level parking lot. Rates may vary by event and are in effect seven days a week. 

Weather, Attire, and Area Information -
Weather: Long Beach weather in May is characterized by rising daily temperatures, with highs increasing from 70°F to 80°F.

Attire - What to pack: The dress code for the conference is business casual. Be sure to bring a sweater or light jacket in case room temperatures run too cold for your comfort.
